#605, 8:10 PM. This must have been made into a motion picture. Once again, referring to the back cover for information, the text says that this is from an action film from Raymond Chow starring Chang Yi. It also says “Cooler than Bond! Quicker than Fly!-Deadlier than Shaft!” Talking about endorsements, Shaft was the best.

#601, 7:16 PM. On the back cover, the text says “Diamonds and Danger” so it must be good. I like the 70’s visual aesthetic and its sense of humor. Funny, I haven’t read what’s inside yet. I’ve neglected to post book drawings in awhile so these should even up the score for now.

#598, 8:19 PM. This was another manipulated snapshot from IKEA. Underneath the swirling lines was a digital snapshot of a colored fabric. The fabric’s color palette was so unaccustomed to me that I wanted to work it into my own design.

#595, 8:36 PM. This was a manipulated snapshot of a bed sheet that I saw at an IKEA store. I was so caught up in the pattern that I used it in my own painting later. A printout of it was collaged and further manipulated with some airbrushing, brushed on enamel paints, and smothered with resin at the end.

1:05 PM, Pasadena, CA. The pattern on this caught my eye. At first glance, the black “spots” appear to be random in their sizes, shapes, and positions but are in fact repetitions of a few sections. I thought it was a clever design from a clever designer. There was a white and black version too on the next rack.

12:00 PM, Pasadena, CA. Exaggeration counts in design. The labels on these red beauties said “Club Kids” and “Now”. At any rate, I’m sure they were perfect for someone that day at the swap meet. This meet happened to be in Pasadena’s Rose Bowl stadium that’s known for its epic size and amount of stuff to check out. Visit this one on the second Sunday of every month.
